From 13 October 2025, Companies House will be making a major change to the way businesses access WebFiling. To log in, you’ll now need to use GOV.UK One Login – the government’s new single sign-in system for all online services.
This update is part of a wider move to improve security and make access to government platforms simpler and more consistent.
What’s changing?
To continue using WebFiling after 13 October, you’ll need to link your existing account to a GOV.UK One Login.
If you currently share a WebFiling account, only one person will be able to connect it. Each team member will instead need their own GOV.UK One Login, using a separate email address.
GOV.UK One Login is set to be rolled out across more government services, so this won’t just be a Companies House change – it’s the start of a wider shift.
How to prepare
To avoid last-minute issues, it’s worth taking a few steps ahead of time:
✅ Check your email – make sure the email address linked to your WebFiling account is current and accessible. If you also use “Find and update company information,” it’s best to use the same email across both.
✅ Set up a GOV.UK One Login now – if you don’t already have one, create an account using the same email as your Companies House logins.
✅ Have your company authentication codes ready – you may need them when linking accounts.
✅ Plan for multiple users – if your team shares a WebFiling login, each person will need to create their own GOV.UK One Login.
✅ Identity verification – while not required until November 2025, directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs) can complete this step early through GOV.UK One Login.
Why act now?
From October, anyone trying to log in to WebFiling will be redirected to GOV.UK One Login. Preparing in advance will save time and reduce the risk of access issues when the change takes effect.
